LATINO MEN WHO HAVE SEX WITH MEN

In 2007, newly reported AIDS cases among Latino men rates increased three times that of white men. Of all Latino men infected, Latino Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) account for 50.6% of the cases according to estimated AIDS cases by exposure category in 2007. Latino MSM’s are disproportionately impacted by the epidemic as indicated by these statistics and recent studies. A seroprevalence and incidence study performed in seven major cities across the country (Baltimore, Maryland; Dallas, Texas; Los Angeles, California; Miami, Florida; New York, New York; San Francisco, California; and Seattle, Washington) from 2002 to 2007 was performed among young men who have sex with men. Out of 2,942 MSM’s between the ages of 23-29, 651 or 22% were Latino but 14% of Latino MSM’s were already infected with HIV compared to 7% of white MSM’s.

HIV incidence among Latino Men who have Sex with Men vary across borders. AIDS cases reported in the U.S. in 2007 HIV incidence among Latino Men who have Sex with Men vary across borders. AIDS cases reported in the U.S. in 2007 among Latinos by Place of Birth and Exposure, indicate that U.S. born Latino MSM’s accounted for 25% of the MSM AIDS cases, 47% were born in Mexico and 14% were born in Puerto Rico. Central/South American and Cuban born MSM’s followed with 35% and 34%, respectively. In addition to country of origin differences, there are also marked differences by region. In the Northeast and Puerto Rico, intravenous drug use account directly and indirectly for the majority of AIDS cases. In all other parts of the country, men who have sex with men account for the majority of AIDS cases.

Dominican Prostitution: Cheap, Prevalent and Accepted

Prostitution is commonly referred to the “world’s oldest profession”. It is something that undoubtedly does now and has always existed in every corner of the globe. Prostitutes are depicted on television and in Hollywood films in a wide range of ways from drug addicted homeless women lurking in the shadows of urban city streets to high priced escorts who cater to some of the richest men in the world.

In many countries including the United States, prostitution is illegal. Despite this, it is usually not viewed with the same contempt as more “serious crimes”. Instead, most view it as more of a morality issue, a “vice” or a social evil that because of human nature, can never be completely extinguished but should be kept as far out of public view as possible. Each specific country and their people have their own respective view of prostitution and the Dominican Republic is no exception. In this article, we will examine prostitution in the Dominican Republic and everything that relates to it in some detail.

The prostitution rate per capita in the Dominican Republic is considered very high. Additionally, the Dominican Republic is statistically the 4th largest exporter of prostitutes in the world behind Brazil, Thailand and the Philippines. So why are the rates so high? Why are so many Dominican women prostitutes? Well, we can probably point to a number of social factors to answer that question.

First and foremost, the Dominican Republic suffers from a very high poverty rate. Over 25% of the Dominican population is said to be living below the poverty line. Educational standards are very low and the majority of people living in the campo (countryside) stop attending school at a young age. The adult literacy rate is a low 87.8 percent. For most, there is little or no opportunity. Unemployment is at a staggering 17% and many, who do have jobs, work for very low pay. There is also a very high rate of teenage pregnancy and fatherless families are extremely common. It is not surprising with so little opportunity and so little hope of future opportunity that many Dominican women turn to prostitution.

3 accused of running major Hispanic prostitution ring

Three Mexican men accused of running a major prostitution ring catering to Hispanics in Northeast Alabama allegedly paid women $15 to perform sex acts and hired a bounty hunter to pose as a police officer and shut down rival operations.

The men had hundreds of condoms to provide to customers, and they sent profits of as much as $1,000 every three days to the owner of the illicit business in Mexico, according to court documents filed by prosecutors.

One women had sex with upward of 80 men daily toward the end of each week, the prosecutors’ documents say, and agents were told that women from eight Latin American countries worked at the trailer-park brothel in Marshall County.

The charges are contained in a complaint linked to the federal indictment announced Tuesday of three Mexican men accused of operating a prostitution business in a mobile home in Albertville.

Police raided the ring in February and estimated it took in as much as $800,000 annually while forcing women into a life as prostitutes. Authorities said the brothel operated for as long as seven years, although the indictment covers only a two-year period beginning in March 2005.

Since February, police have broken up a second, smaller prostitution operation in Albertville.

“It was another trailer park on the other side of town. It just happened to be Hispanic also,” police Sgt. Jamie Smith said Wednesday.

Federal prosecutors said Jose Fernandez-Gonzales, 25; and brothers Miguel Leon Mora, 31, and Jose Elias Mirada-Guillen, 41, were charged with conspiracy, enticing an alien to engage in prostitution and transporting an alien across state lines for illegal sexual activity. All are Mexican citizens, federal authorities said.

Mirada, who previously was deported as an illegal immigrant in 1989, was charged with illegally re- entering the United States.

Attorneys for the men did not immediately return telephone calls seeking comment.

If convicted, the men face maximum penalties of 20 years in prison and fines of $250,000.

Court documents contend the business was owned by Martin Gonzalez, brother of Leon and Mirada. Every three days, the pair wired him profits ranging from $800 to $1,000, according to a sworn statement by a federal agent.

Customers entering the trailer paid $30 for a poker chip they could exchange for 15 minutes of sex, the statement claims. The women would collect the chips and then trade them in for $15 each.

‘Security’

A man nicknamed “Security” worked for the ring and posed as a police officer to close competing prostitution operations, the complaint said, and officers who stopped a car driven by Leon found it loaded with cash totaling $7,070, 576 condoms and clean sheets and bedding.

The traffic stop helped lead to the arrests.

Besides the men, police arrested two alleged prostitutes — Antera Genoveve Peguero-Ayala, a Dominican immigrant in the United States legally, and Graciela Flores, a Mexican citizen who was brought to Alabama from Gainesville, Ga.

Flores — who claimed to have sex with 25 men on slow days and around 80 on busy days — told authorities that women from Cuba, Honduras, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador and El Salvador also worked as prostitutes, the court documents show.

Police in Albertville, about 60 miles northeast of Birmingham, believe the arrests at least temporarily shut down brothels catering to Spanish-speaking men in the area.

HIV/AIDS Growing Problem Among Latinos, Particularly Women

HIV/AIDS is a growing and "frightening" problem among Latinos in the United States, particularly women, Miguel Gomez, director of the HHS Office of HIV/AIDS Policy's Leadership Campaign on AIDS, told delegates at the first-ever National Conference on Latinos and AIDS, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. About 400 HIV/AIDS advocates, educators, health care workers and other professionals are attending the two-day conference, according to the Inquirer. Although Latinos represent only 13% of the U.S. population, they account for 19% of the country's new HIV infections. In addition, AIDS-related illnesses represent the fourth leading cause of death among Latinos ages 25 to 44, according to CDC, theInquirer reports. Gomez said that the United States has "lost the war on HIV/AIDS" because the country records about 40,000 new HIV cases each year. Many conference delegates expressed concern about "barebacking" -- men having sex with men without using condoms -- and "being on the down low" -- men who have sex with men but maintain a "public relationship" with a wife or girlfriend. David Lopez of the AIDS Service Center of New York City said he also sees "HIV fatigue" among young people who have grown "tired" of hearing about safe sex and decide to no longer use condoms, according to the Inquirer. Cynthia Gomez, co-director of the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies at the University of California-San Francisco, said that Latino culture often "stifles" discussion of HIV/AIDS with "silence, denial and guilt," according to the Inquirer. She said that Latinos must use "blunt talk" with children and that women should "demand" HIV testing for their sexual partners, according to the Inquirer (Smith, Philadelphia Inquirer, 5/25).

Mexicans are America’s new Niggers

Before black people gained the same legal status as whites they were treated as second class scum. They lived among us and although they weren’t officially slaves they did all the dirty work of society and were taken advantage of because of their unequal social status that was related to the color of their skin.

But now we have a new class of nigger, illegal aliens. This time it’s not about the color of their skin but the geographical location where they were born. If you were born on one side of a line on a map you have different rights that if you were born on the other side. So we use them as slaves just like we used to use black people. But I don’t think there any difference between color based slavery and geography based slavery. It’s the same thing.

So it pisses me off when fuckers like Lou Dobbs of CNN is on the air for an hour every single fucking day spreading CNN’s message that we need to hate these evil people just because of the location where they were born. It is the same as if CNN had existed in the 1950s and were ranting about the niggers wanting the same rights as white people.

So I ask, what did Lou Dobbs do to earn hist citizenship in America? Did he take a test? Did he go through some sort of long and expensive process that let him EARN his citizenship? No! He didn’t do one fucking thing!

So - let’s be fair about this. Let’s make being a citizen the same for everyone. Let’s have everyone take the same test. So if you can’t find Washington DC on a map then you get deported regardless of where you were born.

Treating people like slaves just because of the location where they were born is as wrong as treating people like slaves because of the color of their skin. It was wrong to do it to blacks and it is wrong to do it to Mexicans.
