Brothers charged in sex abuse of boy

Thursday, September 24, 2009

New charges were filed Tuesday against two brothers accused of videotaping each other as they repeatedly sexually assaulted a boy.

Henry Andres Cortez, 42, and his 48-year-old brother, Jose Adan Olivera, were arrested June 19 and charged with the continuous sexual abuse of a child after police say they filmed each other raping a boy younger than 14, according to an arrest affidavit. The assaults cited in the affidavit allegedly occurred in April.

The victim told police the assaults had happened almost daily until he was 12, the affidavit states.

On Tuesday, they were charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and given $500,000 bonds.

Cortez’s total bond now stands at $1 million, Olivera’s at $950,000, a McLennan County Jail spokeswoman said. The men are also being held on immigration detainers.
